Doukas School participates in the Erasmus+ project ‘A framework for the design and implementation of European Virtual ScHoolS’. Its primary aim is to develop school leaders and teachers’ capacities to design and deliver on-line education. The project started in May 2021 and its duration will be 24 months.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic all schools and universities were asked to be transformed to virtual schools within a week after the general lockdown. Although European Union countries have been pushing ICT in schools and including the digital competence on the European but also national competence frameworks, this is the first time that almost all schools in Europe were asked to move so fast and adopt distance learning methods and tools.
The EUVHS project is expected to have a strong positive impact on schools and education systems in Europe since it will address a well-documented need to develop capacities for Virtual Schooling.
The expected results of the project are to:
- Improve capacity of schools and education systems to design and deploy virtual schooling
- Improve competencies for school leadership teams, teachers and school staff to design and teach online classes.
- Improve the capacity of schools and education systems to engage in online education.
- Improve the understanding of parents on the factors influencing successful online learning and their role
- Improve learners’ capacity to learn online
