This collaborative initiative aimed to equip teachers with the tools and knowledge needed to use real-world data in order to enhance students&#8217; environmental awareness.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doukas.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/2024\/09\/C1-pict1-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"994\"><\/p>\n<p>Participants were introduced to the Teaching The Future Project and the Education for Climate initiative by using real world data. More specifically, the project has developed interesting and rich materials for teachers, from <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/module-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">learning methodologies<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/module-4-geoinquiries\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">activities<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/climate-dashboards\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">climate dashboards<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/data\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">collections of simulations-games<\/a>, with references to the SDGs.<\/p>\n<p>The training consisted of 4 main topics\/modules. More specifically:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Module 1: <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/module-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Climate \u2013 Addressing the challenge<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Module 2: <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/module-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Methodologies for powerful learning<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Module 3: <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/module-3\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Encouraging students\u2019 engagement to local issues<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Module 4: <a href=\"https:\/\/teachingthefuture.eu\/module-4\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Data, tools, and resources<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Module 4 focused on the exploration of data, tools, and resources<\/strong>, encouraging participants to engage in fruitful discussions for a more profound understanding. The session also delved into <strong>Module 2, emphasizing powerful learning<\/strong>, and featured activities where teachers initiated the development of their customized lesson plans.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Module 1, the focus shifted to addressing the climate challenge<\/strong>. Educators actively participated in discussions to augment their learning and provide valuable feedback towards evaluating the module. The day seamlessly transitioned into <strong>Module 3, which emphasized fostering students&#8217; engagement with local issues<\/strong>. Teachers actively began the process of crafting lesson materials and presentations during this session.<\/p>\n<p>The final day of the training involved refining their presentations and showcasing the culmination of the educators&#8217; hard work. Teachers shared their presentations, highlighting the innovative ways they planned to integrate real-world data into their classrooms.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15702\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doukas.edu.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/2024\/09\/C1-pict2-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1894\"><\/p>\n<p>There was a diversity of subjects that each teacher teaches (geography, mathematics, robotics, etc.), as the topic of the training and the project is relevant across the different schools subjects. This allowed for an interdisciplinary approach by teachers during the teacher training activities they were engaged with.<\/p>\n<p>The trainees contributed with ideas on learning activities a teacher may implement in the classroom and this material will be made publicly available through the project\u2019s website.
